Sounds like it's Ubuntu-wide issue accessing NTFS drive and folders but probably caused by Syno Drive client. My point was (based on now, not pre-Win10 dual use) that you have either a Ubuntu-wide issue (all or most of the OS and apps) or limited to Syno Drive client accessing folders. I fear all the saved references to the folder names will no longer work. I will attempt to delete all the problem folders and refilled them and re sync them.

My confidence in Drive on Windows is gone. I was insane to share the folders between Windows and Ubuntu with Drive. Shared NTFS Folders that were NOT touched by Synology drive work fine on both machines. Sudo ntfsfix /dev/nvme0n1p6 finds no problems on Ubuntu machine for same shared drive. On the Windows (W) machine contents of the folders are accessible, but often can't be copied. I suspect that Synology Drive on Windscrewed up the permissions or other secret flags on the NTFS folders shared (on D with the Ubuntu 18.04. I suspect the Windows OS did something to permissions to break Ubuntu access to SOME of the mounted folders.
Only some of the folders have become a problem on X. There are folders on the shared NTFS partition, both OS can still access, use and sync. WAS WORKING FINE on X before I installed Drive client on W machine.
X can't access the problem folders on the shared NTFS partition anymore in its file manager.

X is Ubuntu 18.04, 64 bit with drive sync'd folders on NTFS partition of Samsung SSD drive. There's only that one drive in the machine. They only share data on an NTFS partition of SSD drive. I've two OS's running alternately on same machine. Suspect installing Drive in Win 10 has corrupted NTFS shared partiion to Ubuntu access.
